I didn't think of Morse Code, I just thought Daryl might leave, or try to leave, a sign or something while he was carrying/loading all the stuff for/with the Saviors, he is a tracker. (That's taking a big chance, super risky.) But, they (the Saviors) were all over him; I don't think he would have had the chance.
The thought never crossed my mind. I doubt it is morse code.
Yeah you never know. The first time I saw the Morse Code was in "Knots Untie" both times you could see the board behind Maggie's head when she directed her questions to Jesus.
As far as Daryl being dumb. He is actually smart. When Jesus stated "entropy comes from order", Daryl said yeah because he knew what that phrase meant (I had to google it) EVERYBODY turned around and looked at him, all surprised. (Check out the expression on Rick's face, priceless)
I thought then, that we would re-visit that and SG may be making us do so now.
Did Daryl send a morse code message to Rick? Not sure, but he may have. I am open to this theory. Time will tell.
There are other instances where SG left clues to show Daryl is smarter than we give him credit for.
The cherokee rose, the cubracabra (my spelling may be off) incident, and also in a deleted scene he jumped all into Andrea's space to let her know that he knew the definition of a word that she used to describe him. (i have to go back and re-watch to get that info)
I just wish they would clean him up and cut his hair.
I don't think Daryl is dumb. Introverted yes, dumb no. When he does something dumb it's because of emotions making him act irrationally, not because of lack of intelligence. Do I think he's some great intellectual? No.
The Morse code theory, I have no idea but seems a bit much to me. He blinked some but Morse code seems too complex to deliver a useful message with a few blinks unless you knew what the message was about. I do think the Morse code will come into play eventually though.
There are easter eggs here and there and little hints in the background or the writing but secret things a character is doing unbeknownst to the audience doesn't really happen. What we see is what we get. On a show like Lost I would think this was plausible but not on TWD. This morse code thing reminds me of the Enid is a spy, a wolf, a Savior rumors.
Will be interesting to see if the morse code thing pans out.
I think it will eventually.
Daryl doesnt know morse code. With all that blinking and bobbing he was most likely jamming to Easy Street in his head
Sherry helps him escape and he meets up with Rick at Hilltop...Rick doesnt try to save him. if this was part of the story wouldn't Rick act on it somehow or is there supposed to be a conversation when they meet up where Daryl says I tried to tell you where I was? Idk..it just isn't clicking for me
I'll have to go back and watched that scene I was too distracted by the Grimes Family 2.0 dynamics at the table.
The show did something similar with Merle back in season 3. Hershel tries to quote some scripture at him and Merle finishes it and provides the chapter and verse as well. He remarks that he often visited the Woodbury library. So I think the Dixon are pretty intelligent.
I thought the scene was weird with Darly twitching and bobbing and kind of out of character from the last time we say Daryl, I just assumed he probably had a concussion or something lol. I'll just wait and see what happens. I think the code would be cool. Also they could have easily created a code based on morse that was easier to convey.
Gimple shot down the Morse Code theory in an interview with ComicBook.com.
"I heard about this on set yesterday," Gimple said. "I would like to live in a world where Daryl Dixon residuously learns morse code and knows that Rick has an intimate knowledge of morse code, as well, and that they have practiced this with blinks. I would love that."
I was completely WTF when I heard this theory because it made no sense to me, so I am glad it has been clarified since this theory took off for some reason.
That freaking theory annoyed the shit out of me. Glad it was shut down by the showrunner
I never got the morse code theory lol
Not on board with the Morse Code idea, but some other kind of contingency thing, maybe? They had a plan at the prison; it didn't work out to good, but, they did have one. I can't think any plan took into account a Negan being in the mix.
Exactly! That was the exact reason why I was annoyed by that theory
No offense, but that is a lot of reaching
If it's an Easter Egg, it will most likely have to do with the two people who were linked to that board, Rick and Michonne
They would have shown him in the van, absorbing that information
He was there for Negan to further torture Rick and Daryl. That was his sole purpose
There is some kind of strategy in place at ASZ. Didn't FG mention this to Rick before they left for Hilltop with Maggie? I think that scene was put into play not only to show Rick's confidence in FG and FG's commitment, but to also note that they do have tactics in place for attack. The question is wether the plans are only defensive.
Oh lawd, to think that one never died, sigh
Yeah, I don't buy the Daryl is communicating through Morse Code theory at all.
I'm glad this theory is over. It was rather ridiculous, tbh. Just another way to attempt to make Daryl a hero or shoehorn him into storylines.
