The writers seem to have forgotten Daryl's gun shot wound.

In 615, Dwight shoots Daryl in the shoulder. Daryl looks sick from blood loss and injury in 616 and 701, and struggles to get up but (somehow) manages to punch Negan.

Then in the day scenes of 701 (IMO they were shot after the seasonal hiatus), he's FINE. They throw him in the van again and he's moving normally, even leaning on his shot arm!

Then there was no mention of it or sign of pain at all from Daryl in 703.

It's literally Sam saying "Mom...mom...!" in 609 all over again!

    Terrible.

Lol...I think it's the writers doing what they do best. They aren't the best at continuity and this is too big of a point for them to act like it doesn't hurt him any longer. Or maybe they will just come back to it at a later time. You never know with these writers.

They always do that. Carol is also healing/has healed at an unbelievably rapid pace.

TWD's cast members are all Wolverine, to be honest. They have magical healing powers because the writers have decided that while the injury is exciting television, the recovery and healing process is not.

And, yes, it makes me roll my eyes.

When Carol ran/walked during her hallucination filled escape from the walkers at the beginning of 7x2, I actually muttered at my TV. She had JUST gotten shot...IN THE LEG. I mean...I know she's a tough cookie but come ON!

Hey, at least Daryl got a 5 second check up by Dr. Savior in 7x3 so that's something...

True. I'm beginning to think that the infection that turns them into walkers has also given them powers of rapid recovery and healing.

Rick recovered from the savage beating by the Governor after one night unconscious and a bowl of dry cornflakes. He was also shot in the leg but didn't mind it enough to even change his rancid jeans.

Same with Glenn's beating by Merle and don't even mention Hershel's leg amputation (and the magically appearing prosthetic) eyeroll.

Yep, it is just the TWD way. They've done it for so many characters.
    • Carl's gut shot in season two would've taken more than a couple days to recover from. Same with Rick's bloodloss. (I think chronologically Carl was only in bed for like a day.)
    • Rick's beat down from the Governor and bullet to the thigh would've taken more than a couple days to heal from, but Rick was running around not long after. (I guess at least they showed the recovery a bit.)
    • Hershel's leg.
    • Nevermind Rick's coma at the beginning. Completely glosses over muscle atrophy.
    • Daryl's gun shot wound to the shoulder.
    • Carol's multiple gun shot wounds to her limbs.
Like Mama said - they're all Wolverine.

Is that the magic of television? Same thing with solving a crime in one week or calling on the FBI for every serial killings, and so on. TV writers really think things are that easy

OT...my daughter wants to go into forensics after watching 12 seasons of Criminal Minds. Needless to say, I'm having her meet people who actually work in the field IN REAL LIFE to give her a reality check!

I worked briefly with DNA experts and their work was so tedious and they often mock CSI. Additionally, while I was researching criminal profiling for a book I was writing, I found out that Criminal Minds is full of lies. Shit, the BAU structure is far from what we see on TV

This is only further proves that Daryl getting shot was for pure shock value to make the viewers believe that there may be a possibility of him getting killed. Beyond that, not much thought was put into it.
